Recently launched Galaxy Watch Active is the Samsung’s latest smartwatch by the South Korean giant. It would be more appropriate to name it Galaxy Watch Lite. Priced at $199.99 (Approx Rs. 27,000 in PKR), the Galaxy Watch Active is less expensive than its $330 (~ Rs. 42,000 PKR) sibling, while it has another competitor with a price tag of $400 (~ 55,000 PKR), that’s Apple Watch Series 4.
Like Samsung Galaxy Watch, the Active also runs on Samsung’s own Tizen OS and is powered by Exynos 9110 processor instead of Google’s Wear OS and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear CPU. The Galaxy Watch Active comes in one size, a lightweight, 40 millimeter case that’s smaller than both Galaxy Watch models with 42 mm and 46 mm diameter.
The Galaxy Watch Active has the round AMOLED display that’s great to look at, even in direct sunlight. It has Gorilla Glass 3 like the Galaxy Watch. The Active sports two side buttons, just like the original Galaxy Watch. The top button is a back key and the bottom button returns you to the home screen.
The device has a few minor UI changes that make it seems slightly more fitness focused. There are 40 activities to choose from, and auto detection along with auto pause when you take a quick break for biking, rowing, running, and dynamic workouts. It can also track your swimming as it comes with 5 ATM water resistance.
The watch is also equipped with an accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, a barometer, a gyro sensor, a heart rate monitor, and NFC. It has Samsung’s own Bixby voice assistant. Samsung’s Tizen 4.0 operating system is compatible with Android and iOS.
